2024-2025 Best Paper Prizes
Posted on 2025-05-01Congratulations to the two papers selected as “Best Papers” published in the USURJ journal this year!
Abigail Clemente’s paper “The Conversational Functions and Effects of Tagalog-English Code-Switching on Filipino Television” is an expertly written and novel linguistic analysis examining the context of Tagalog and English switching on a Filipino television program.
Nathan Baillie’s paper “Monstrous Lessons: Peter Stumpp, the Werewolf of Bedburg” presents a comprehensive and fascinating deep dive into the historical record regarding history’s most infamous werewolf.
Two additional papers were nominated for the prize: "Dance and Make Revels": Cross-Dressing Prostitutes and Gendered Performance as a Method of Accessing Agency in Medieval London” by Fionnuala Braun and “Perceptions of Canadian Radiology Residents Regarding Competence by Design” by Brent Burbridge and Sunam Jassar.
