2023-2024 Best Paper Prize
Posted on 2024-04-30
Congratulations to the two papers selected as “Best Papers” published in the USURJ journal this year!
Krishna Kolen’s paper “The Relationship Between Wildfires and Respiratory Health: AQHI Data in Southern Saskatchewan and Its Potential Respiratory Implications” examined how South Saskatchewan air quality health index records from the last twenty years and correlated it to changes in respiratory health in the region.
Maxwell Folk’s paper “Green Capitalism Won’t Save Indigenous Nations or Canadians” is an expertly written critical analysis of how corporations developing “green” initiatives is not adequately meeting carbon footprint goals or rebuilding broken trust with Indigenous groups.
The runner up paper nominated was “We Are All Treaty People: A Reflection and Research-Based Look at Incorporating Indigenous Content into Saskatchewan High School Arts and STEM Classrooms” by Emily Zepick.
Congratulations to all the authors!
The panel thanks the senior editors for nominating papers for the Best Papers Award. Thank you to the University of Saskatchewan Office of the Vice-President Research for funding the prize.
